The Old Shippon and The Shippon are located one and a half miles from the village of Buckland Brewer. In the village there is a butchers' and an excellent pub - The Coach and Horses - well-known locally for its good food.

The market towns of Bideford and Torrington are approximately 5 and 9 miles distant. Bideford, the larger of the two, has supermarkets, pubs, restaurants, chemists and most things you would expect to find in a medium sized town. Torrington is home to Dartington Crystal and Rosemoor Gardens. Nearby you will also find Hartland Abbey, Marwood Hill Gardens and the beach at Westward Ho!

The famous hillside village of Clovelly is 8 miles away.

Surfers may like to visit Westward Ho! or Croyde and for walkers Exmoor, the South West Coastal Path and The Tarka Trail are nearby and North Devon has many Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Ann and Richard will always be pleased to offer help and advice on where to go and what to see. Just ask!

From Bideford Quay follow the River Torridge inland, taking the Great Torrington road A386, then turn right signposted Buckland Brewer after 1.5 miles.

After 2.5 miles, take the left turn signposted Buckland Brewer (and Coach and Horses) then turn right after 0.5 miles signposted Beara. Follow the track, over the cattle grid, until you reach Beara Farmhouse, The Shippon and The Old Shippon.
